World Premiere 2026: Triple Clutch Serving the Invisible

With the TONDA PF Chronographe Mystérieux, Parmigiani Fleurier introduces a world-first chronograph architecture that reimagines one of watchmaking’s most established complications.

Free from traditional sub-dials, the chronograph remains completely invisible when inactive, preserving the purity of a three-hand TONDA PF. Activated on demand, it displays elapsed time across the entire dial.

Built around five coaxial central hands, three are dedicated to chronograph hours, minutes and seconds, while two continue displaying civil time. The result is a new way of reading elapsed time, where complexity remains hidden until needed.

 Invention Through Restoration

For over 30 years, Parmigiani Fleurier has combined horological heritage with innovation.

Inspired by Michel Parmigiani’s restoration expertise, the Maison has developed a series of complications revealed only on demand, including the TONDA PF GMT Rattrapante, Minute Rattrapante and now the Chronographe Mystérieux.

Its triple-clutch architecture, comprising one vertical and two horizontal clutches, ranks among the most sophisticated chronograph constructions in contemporary watchmaking.

The Hierarchy of Time

Unlike conventional chronographs that dominate the dial,  the TONDA PF Chronographe Mystérieux preserves the primacy of civil time.

Developed specifically for this concept, the calibre PF053 allows all chronograph indications to disappear completely when not in use.

Time, Read in Full

A mono-pusher integrated at 7:30 controls the entire sequence.

First Press: Three rhodium-plated chronograph hands instantly deploy and begin timing, while rose-gold hands display civil time.

Second Press: Measurement stops for immediate reading across the full dial.

Third Press: The chronograph hands realign and disappear,  restoring the dial’s original purity.

The Tonda PF Signature

The watch features a Mineral Blue dial enhanced by hand-crafted Grain d’Orge guilloché, paired with a knurled platinum bezel and integrated bracelet.

Every detail reflects the collection’s signature balance of refinement, legibility and understated elegance.

Calibre PF053: The Architecture of Disappearance

The integrated column-wheel calibre PF053 comprises 362 components, beats at 4 Hz and offers a 60-hour power reserve within a slim 6.9 mm profile.

Its unique triple-clutch construction enables the seamless transformation of hand functions while maintaining absolute precision.

The Kinematics of Complexity

Created for Parmigiani Fleurier’s 30th anniversary, the TONDA PF Chronographe Mystérieux introduces a new approach to the chronograph.

It embodies the Maison’s belief that true innovation lies in making complexity disappear.

Guido Terreni, Chief Executive Officer

“The chronograph has often been positioned at the centre of the dial, confined within small technical counters. We sought to offer something different: the breadth of the dial, space and presence.

In the Chronographe Mystérieux, measured time no longer hides within reduced sub-dials. It unfolds across the full dial, fully expressed. The reading becomes immediate, almost instinctive.

Yet behind this apparent simplicity lies an exceptional level of mechanical intelligence. Everything is designed so that the function appears, evolves and then recedes, without ever disrupting the purity of the lines.

At Parmigiani Fleurier, we believe deeply that watchmaking must evoke emotion. It is not merely a high complication; it is a living interaction.

Purity is a quest, that of a complexity so perfectly mastered that it ultimately disappears.”
